ENGLISH

Through the study of the English Language and Literature curriculum, pupils will learn to read and write fluently in a variety of styles and forms which prepare them for the local, national and global stage. English will also teach pupils to speak and listen carefully so they can communicate their ideas, thoughts and feelings with others in a confident and clear manner.

The challenging curriculum content will provide ambition and opportunities for rich personal development; especially culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually. Pupils will acquire knowledge through reading age appropriate and exciting texts that help develop vocabulary and instil values that will empower them both in and out of school. As well as this, wider reading opportunities will enable pupils to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

That is the beauty of literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.
