Student Council
Purpose
The student council is a body of students who represent their tutor groups and year groups, and who contribute significantly to the running of the school. They offer their opinions and ideas on a variety of matters and plan and deliver activities that help fellow students and the wider community. The council meets monthly and student council representatives can be identified by badges, which they all wear with pride.
Main Responsibilities
- Be a positive role model in all aspects of school life including presentation, behaviour and a commitment to work hard
- Regularly attend school council meetings
- Drive positive change, liaise between students and senior leadership team addressing the concerns and gathering feedback.
- Represent student interests in a collaborative, engaging environment
- Lead termly campaigns within the school if needed to improve the school experience for our student community.

Student Leadership
Student subject Leadership has given our young people the opportunity to develop their skills and take on extra responsibilities in subjects across the school.
Each subject selects students who embody the Denbigh values and who show a flair in their subject.
Student Subject Leadership gives students the opportunity to:
- Take responsibility
- Learn new skills which can help in the work place
- Create new opportunities for others
- Add the role to your CV for when you apply for college
Our students leaders are easily identified across the school through the wearing of our distinct learning leader ties.
Extra-Curricular Opportunities
Students are entitled to a range of activities to support academic, vocational and sport- related development before school, during lunch and after school.
Some of our comprehensive range of extra-curricular activities to support students learning outside of normal school lessons are:
- Access to breakfast clubs to improve students reading
- A wide range of sporting activities and competitions
- Independent learning and research in the school library and through our extensive network of ICT facilities
- Opportunities to participate in events such as our Gym and Dance Show and our Expressive Arts Evening
- Theatre productions produced and delivered by our expressive performing arts team
- Additional homework and revision clubs
- Visits to the theatres, museums and art galleries
- Tutorials during key examination years
- Summer schools for targeted groups of students KS2 and KS3
- Participation in The Duke of Edinburgh Awards programme during weekends and school breaks

Young Enterprise

Every year Denbigh High School takes part in the Young Enterprise company Programme. Young Enterprise is a national charity who supports Young people with enterprise and finance education. Each year over 1,000 schools and thousands of students take part in the company programme across the UK.
We are looking for students who are ready to run and operate their very own company! If you want to be the next Richard Branson or Alan Sugar (Self-made millionaires) then you need to learn and gain experience of Enterprise and business.You and other students would set up your own company from scratch, with your ideas it can be the next big fashion label, to a candle giftware shop.
If you are interested in taking part in the Young Enterprise programme to gain valuable new skills and practical life skills then please fill out the application form on your Year 10 Head of Year google classroom.
